About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has built a career on writing music that works in the classroom while captivating audiences. His compositions for young band are performed internationally, and his impact extends through both his own works and his collaboration on foundational pedagogical resources like Measures of Success and the Beyond series. In 2017, his orchestral composition Cloud Gate drew over 5,000 listeners to Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education from the Illinois Grade School Music Association.
With roots in three decades of middle school teaching, Loest understands what young musicians can achieve and what keeps audiences engaged. His published works span multiple publishers including FJH Music Company, C.L. Barnhouse Company, and his own Fanfare Music Press, founded in 2022. His music has also appeared on network television, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. Loest holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University and maintains membership in ASCAP.
