About the Composer: Robert Sheldon

Robert Sheldon's wind band compositions have become central to the repertoire performed by school and university ensembles worldwide. His work has earned recognition from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP, and his pieces regularly appear on state and national contest lists. Beyond composing, Sheldon co-authored Sound Innovations for Concert Band and maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for honor bands and clinician at universities and state music education conferences across the United States and internationally.

Sheldon's music has been performed at Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. He continues to accept commissions and produce new works annually, conducting engagements that have taken him to Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music granted him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to music education and the wind band art form.
