Nils Frahm founded Piano Day in 2015 with a straightforward mission: to celebrate the instrument itself and everyone connected to it, from the builders and tuners who keep pianos alive to the listeners who experience them. As a composer and pianist, Frahm recognized that the piano deserved its own day of recognition, so he chose the 88th day of the year, a direct reference to the 88 keys on a standard piano. What began as a niche observance has grown into a global annual event that inspires public performances, new compositions, and renewed interest in piano music across generations.

This collection represents years of Piano Day playlists and albums curated under Frahm's vision, bringing together works that showcase the piano's range in contemporary classical and minimalist contexts.
