About the Composer: Catherine Rollin
Catherine Rollin is a composer and pianist who balances an active performance schedule with a teaching studio that has produced award-winning students. Her workshop and masterclass presentations have taken her across the United States, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan, reaching audiences in over 200 cities. She holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music degree from Oakland University School of Performing Arts.
Rollin's compositions have earned recognition from major music organizations, including commissions from Clavier Companion magazine, the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the Michigan Music Teachers Association. Her work has been selected multiple times for the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Bulletin, and she has served as a judge for the MTNA Student Composition Competition and the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Contest. In 2018, she received a commission from MTNA's prestigious From the Pen to the Premiere series, resulting in Suite Detroit, a trio for flute, alto saxophone, and piano that premiered at the MTNA national conference. Her ASCAP award-winning Museum Masterpieces series (Books 1-4) was featured in a multimedia concert presentation by the Steinway Society, showcasing her work as both composer and pianist.
