Description
This dreamy melody in triple time is shared around the ensemble, giving a valuable lesson in bow divisions. The dotted rhythm is played three different ways: fast down bows alternating with fast up bows and "zigzag" bowing. It is also played legato in one bow, requiring the players to save the bow and use it evenly. The piano part covers any missing parts, but is not essential.

About the Composer: Loreta Fin
Loreta Fin AM is an Australian violist, educator, and prolific composer whose career spans performance, teaching, and leadership in string education. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and former concertmaster of the Sydney Youth Orchestra, she served as Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra for over 25 years while maintaining an active chamber music practice. Since 1993, she has directed strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane, where her influence on young musicians has been recognized through a Queensland State Award for services to music education.
Fin has shaped Australian string education at the highest levels, serving as both State and National President of the Australian Strings Association and currently holding the position of State Advisor for Strings. Her output includes over 100 published works for string orchestra, and she brings decades of adjudication experience from major competitions across Australia and the United States. Since 2015, she has regularly conducted the State and National Honours Ensembles Programs, and her work has earned her the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching.
