Ralph Ford has spent nearly three decades on university faculties while maintaining a prolific career as a composer and arranger across multiple genres. His trajectory began at fifteen as a working arranger in Panama City, Florida, and accelerated during his undergraduate years at Troy State University, where he directed the Jazz Ensemble I and served as staff arranger for the band program. He earned his Master of Science degree in 1988 and remained on the Troy faculty teaching orchestration, arranging, theory, and applied brass before transitioning to his current role as an exclusive composer and arranger for the Belwin division of Alfred Music.

Ford's catalog exceeds 250 published titles spanning orchestra, concert band, jazz ensemble, and marching band, with works performed by university, military, professional, and school ensembles worldwide. Beyond concert music, his credits include broadcast and media work: composing and producing news packages for national network affiliates, creating music for television and radio productions, and developing content for digital platforms.
