About the Composer: Robert Sheldon
Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently performed composers in the wind band repertoire today. His works appear regularly on state and national contest lists, have been performed internationally across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House. Sheldon co-authored the widely adopted Sound Innovations for Concert Band and continues to accept commissions while producing new publications annually.
Throughout his career, Sheldon has been recognized with awards from the American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP. He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for honor bands and as a clinician at universities and state music education conferences. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to wind band music and music education.
