Choirs building toward more sophisticated repertoire but not yet ready for SATB voicing demands. This works equally well for middle school ensembles and high school groups prioritizing musical growth over technical difficulty.

• Balance the altos carefully in passages where they carry harmonic movement. They'll need to feel supported by the sopranos without being buried.
• Establish the basses as a solid foundation early in rehearsal; their part anchors the harmonic progression throughout.
• Mark breath points collectively before the first full run-through. SAB writing sometimes creates longer phrases than singers expect in their individual lines.

Pair this with a more technically demanding piece to round out a concert, or program it early in your spring show when you want to build momentum with material that feels instantly rewarding to perform.
