Joseph M. Martin trained in piano performance at Furman University and earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. A seasoned performer in his own right, he has given solo recitals across the United States and Mexico, appeared as a featured artist with symphony orchestras, and won the Nina Plant Wideman Competition, which led to performances with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra. His work has been performed at Carnegie Hall, the Mel Tillis Theatre in Branson, and in countless worship services across North America.

Today, Martin divides his creative energy between composing and arranging for church musicians and choirs while continuing to perform in concert settings.
