About the Composer: Adrian B. Sims

Adrian B. Sims is a composer, conductor, educator, and trombonist born in Seattle in 2000. He earned degrees in Music Education and Composition from the University of Maryland, where he studied composition with Dr. Robert Gibson and has drawn mentorship from Brian Balmages. His compositions have been performed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, recognized on the Bandworld Top 100 List, and selected as winners in the Maryland Music Educators Association Young Composers Project and the Make Music Young Composers Contest.

As a trombonist, Sims has performed across multiple ensembles including orchestral pit bands, symphony orchestras, jazz groups, and concert bands. He was selected multiple times for the Maryland All-State Band in high school and has performed alongside the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Currently studying at the University of Maryland, he continues to conduct his own works across Maryland schools and credits his band directors Christopher Gnagey and Cindy Stevenson for their ongoing support.
