Why we love this

This opener delivers genuine entertainment value without sacrificing musicality. The echo section keeps singers engaged while the straightforward verse-verse-chorus structure means your ensemble can master it quickly and focus on the staging and movement that make it a true show-stopper.

What to expect

Upbeat and theatrical, with a bright 2-beat pulse that propels the piece forward. The verse-chorus architecture feels familiar and singable, while the echo section injects playful interplay that invites the audience into the fun.

Who it's for

Middle school and high school choirs looking for an energetic opener that works for concert or musical theater contexts. The 2-part voicing makes it accessible for mixed-ability ensembles while the staged movement appeals to students who thrive on performance drama.

How to get the most out of it

  • Keep the tempo brisk and maintain energy through the echo section; the repeated phrases are a chance to build momentum, not drag the pace.
  • Coordinate the movement and staging with rehearsal early; the physical components are integral to the piece's character and will boost student confidence onstage.
  • Balance the two voice parts clearly in the verse sections so the echo effect lands with punch when it arrives.
  • Use the recorded accompaniment to establish the rhythmic feel and keep the ensemble locked in during early rehearsals.

How to use it

Open a choral concert with this piece to set a celebratory tone and capture attention immediately. It also works well as the kickoff number in a school musical or as a standalone showcase piece when you want to highlight your choir's ability to entertain.

Skills your students will build

  • Maintaining steady tempo in 2-beat time
  • Echo singing and rhythmic precision with repeated phrases
  • Integrating staged movement with vocal performance
  • Balancing two-part harmony in a show context
