About the Composer: Jack Wilds

Jack Wilds composes across an unusually wide range of ensembles and ages, from children's choirs to professional orchestras. His catalogue draws inspiration from visual art, literature, philosophy, and pure musical thinking, and his work consistently prioritizes meeting performers at their current level while demanding artistic integrity. Over 40 of his publications are written specifically for developing musicians in school settings.

A former public school band director, Wilds brings classroom experience to everything he writes. His wind band works appear regularly on festival required repertoire lists across multiple continents and have been heard at the Midwest Clinic and regional educator conferences. He teaches composition, theory, and music technology at Texas State University and serves as Co-Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos, where he has worked for 13 years. His chamber works have been performed by ensembles including the Attacca Quartet and members of the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony.
