About the Composer: Robert Sheldon
Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently performed composers of concert band repertoire in the United States. His works appear regularly on festival and contest programs across the country, and his influence extends globally through performances in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and venues in Japan, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, and China. He has received recognition from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Beyond composition, Sheldon shaped music education through his role as lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band. He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for All-State and regional honor bands, and serves as a clinician at universities and state music education conferences. VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2020, recognizing his lasting contribution to the field.
