About the Composer: Brian Balmages
Brian Balmages has established himself as a composer and conductor working across orchestral, band, and chamber repertoire on an international stage. His works have been commissioned and performed by professional orchestras, university ensembles, and school groups in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House. He received the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association, won the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest, and was elected to the American Bandmasters Association.
Balmages currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic. His conducting appearances span all-state and regional ensembles, university orchestras, and professional groups worldwide. He holds degrees from James Madison University and the University of Miami, where he was commissioned to compose music for a presidential inauguration.
