About the Composer: William Owens

William Owens has spent decades building a reputation as one of the most prolific and practical composers for young ensembles. Born in Gary, Indiana, he brought thirty years of classroom experience as a band director to his compositional work, giving his music a deep understanding of what students can achieve and what teachers actually need. Since 1993, he has created over 300 titles across concert band, string orchestra, and small ensemble repertoire.

Owens holds a degree from VanderCook College of Music and maintains active memberships in ASCAP, TMEA, and Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity. His works appear on required music lists across North America and have become teaching standards at the young band level. Now based in Fort Worth, Texas, he continues to be recognized for his contributions to music education, including his designation as a Distinguished Alumnus and recipient of the Texas Bandmasters Association's Meritorious Achievement Award.
