About the Composer: Mark Williams
Mark Williams established himself as one of the most prolific composers for school bands and orchestras, with over 200 published works spanning multiple genres. Beyond his writing, he shaped instrumental music education as co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method and traveled extensively as a clinician and guest conductor across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. His education credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University, and he spent years teaching elementary band in Washington schools while also serving as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band.
Williams' contributions to band literature earned him recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Beyond composition, he remained an active performer on bassoon and served as Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band, bringing his deep understanding of instrumental color and ensemble balance directly into his writing for young musicians.
