About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams established himself as one of the most prolific composers for young band and orchestra, with over 200 published works performed in schools across North America and beyond. His career combined active composing and arranging with extensive clinical work; he conducted and adjudicated in 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, while also serving as woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band. Williams specialized in elementary band instruction during his years teaching in Washington state, bringing direct classroom experience to his compositions.

Beyond his compositional work, Williams earned recognition through the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. He held degrees from Eastern Washington University and remained active as a bassoon performer and conductor, serving as Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method reflects his commitment to creating accessible, engaging music for developing musicians.
