About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo spent 31 years building one of Indiana's most decorated band programs at Carmel High School before retiring in 2013. His ensembles claimed state and national honors across concert, jazz, and marching categories; Carmel's Wind Symphony performed at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival three times and captured the Indiana State Championship in 2013, while the Marching Greyhounds finished in the BOA Grand National top ten for 17 consecutive years, winning national titles in 2005 and 2012.
Saucedo's contributions to music education earned him Indiana's Bandmaster of the Year award (1998-99), induction into the Music for All Hall of Fame (2015) and Drum Corps International Hall of Fame (2022), and membership in the American Bandmasters Association. Beyond the classroom, he has composed and arranged extensively for marching bands, concert ensembles, and orchestras; served as Brass Arranger for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps during five DCI world championship runs; and currently serves as music ensemble coordinator for the Blue Devils and as Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America.
