About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over four decades as a composer, conductor, and clinician with a distinctive focus on choral movement and accessibility. Since 1987, she has received the ASCAP Special Music Award annually and maintains more than 600 published choral works in print, alongside 75 larger-scale musicals and songbooks. Her conducting experience spans prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, where she has led honor choirs and festivals nationwide.
Early in her career, Albrecht spent more than thirty years as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers, most recently at Alfred Music, where she developed materials for thousands of school choirs. Her education includes a B.A. in Music and Theater from Rollins College (1976) and advanced degrees from the University of Miami: an M.A. in Drama (1977) and an M.M. in Accompanying (1979). She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. Albrecht was honored with the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021, and has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
