About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his reputation as a composer deeply connected to school band education. A co-author of the influential Accent on Achievement Band Method, Williams created over 200 works for band, orchestra, and choir while maintaining a teaching career in Washington state, where he specialized in elementary band instruction. He held degrees from Eastern Washington University and served as woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band.

Williams' impact extended far beyond his published catalog. As a clinician and guest conductor, he traveled to 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his pedagogical philosophy with music educators everywhere. His compositions earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. A accomplished bassoonist and artistic director of the Spokane British Brass Band, Williams understood what students needed to play and what audiences wanted to hear.
