Two compact disc recordings (sold as a two-disc set) support the concepts introduced in Level 4. The disc for the Music Lesson Book includes the narration for the story, as well as two performances of each piece---an acoustic piano version and an orchestrated version. The disc for the Music Discovery Book contains all of the songs and the "Listen and Sing" examples in the book performed by a teacher and students. In addition, professional performances of all listening examples for music appreciation and movement activities are included.

About the Authors
Christine H. Barden is recognized worldwide as a leading expert in early childhood music education. She co-authored Alfred's Music for Little Mozarts preschool piano method and currently teaches piano privately in Reno, Nevada. Her students consistently win awards in both piano and composition, while she also directs Music for Little Mozarts classes for young learners.
Barden holds a degree in piano performance from San Francisco State University, where she studied under Vladimir Brenner, the NBC Symphony Orchestra's piano soloist. Her professional experience includes 17 years as a national staff member with Yamaha, serving as Director of Curriculum and National Chief Instructor for the Yamaha Music Education System. She was among the first American teachers to study with Yamaha Music Foundation instructors in Japan and spent four years studying, performing, and teaching throughout Europe.
As an in-demand clinician, Barden regularly conducts workshops for piano teachers at conferences across the United States and internationally in England, Norway, and Singapore. Her published compositions with Alfred include the Music for Little Mozarts series and piano solos for young students, notably "Etude Toccata," which was selected as a National Federation of Music Club's Junior Festival piece.

Dr. Gayle Kowalchyk is a piano instructor and pedagogy specialist at California State University, Northridge, where she teaches class piano, individual piano lessons, and piano pedagogy courses. She earned her bachelor's degree in piano performance from Ohio University, followed by a master's degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Northwestern University, and completed her doctorate in piano pedagogy at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Her career includes significant positions at Eastern Illinois University, where she coordinated the class piano program and directed the piano preparatory program, as well as teaching appointments at Oklahoma Baptist University and the University of Oklahoma. She spent summers from 1979 to 1982 teaching class piano and piano ensemble at the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan.
Dr. Kowalchyk is widely recognized as a clinician and adjudicator, presenting at major national conferences including those hosted by the Music Teachers National Association, Music Educators National Conference, National Group Piano Symposium, and World Piano Pedagogy Conference. Working alongside her husband, Dr. E. L. Dr. E. L. Lancaster served as Executive Editor for Piano at Alfred Music and currently holds an adjunct piano faculty position at California State University, Northridge. He earned degrees from Murray State University and the University of Illinois, culminating in a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
From 1979 to 1998, Dr. Lancaster was a Professor of Music at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, where he established the master's and doctoral programs in piano pedagogy and taught courses spanning piano pedagogy and group piano instruction. He mentored more than 50 doctoral dissertation students and operated a large independent piano studio in Norman alongside his wife, Dr. Gayle Kowalchyk, from 1981 to 1996. His teaching excellence earned him the Regents Award for Superior Teaching (1984), the Associated Distinguished Lectureship (1987), the Provost's Outstanding Academic Advising Award (1996), and the Outstanding Faculty Award in the College of Fine Arts (1996). In 1991, he received a David Ross Boyd Professorship, an honor recognizing exceptional faculty in teaching and student guidance.
Dr. Lancaster has held significant leadership roles within music education organizations, serving as National Chairman of Group Piano and National Chairman of Student Chapters for MTNA, as well as 2020 National Conference Chair. He has also contributed to the National Conference on Piano Pedagogy in administrative capacities. In 2013, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia recognized him as a Signature Sinfonian, and Murray State University awarded him the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
