About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built a prolific career as one of the most frequently performed composers for school bands and orchestras in America. A co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, he published more than 200 works for young musicians and traveled extensively across 34 U.S. states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia as a clinician and guest conductor. His roots in music education ran deep: he earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University, then devoted years to teaching elementary band in Washington state.

Beyond the page, Williams was an active musician and advocate for ensemble excellence. He performed regularly on bassoon, arranged works for the 560th Air Force Band, and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His contributions to music education earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards, establishing him as a composer whose works genuinely serve the needs and abilities of young musicians.
