Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has established himself as a composer and conductor working fluidly across orchestral, band, and chamber repertoires. His works have been performed by ensembles ranging from professional orchestras to school groups in major venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Sydney Opera House. He is a member of the American Bandmasters Association, received the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association, and won the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest.

As a guest conductor, Balmages regularly leads all-state and regional ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras worldwide. His music has been featured at significant national events, including the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service. He currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic, bringing his compositional and educational expertise to music educators across the country.
