About the Composer: Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan's compositional voice reflects decades of experience in the classroom and on the podium. A Virginia educator for 36 years, he brings both historical knowledge and practical pedagogy to his writing for band. His works have been heard at major venues including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and the White House, and he holds degrees in Music Education from Bridgewater College and a master's degree from James Madison University.

Beyond his work as a composer and arranger, Fagan has shaped music education through his roles as a clinician, adjudicator, and university supervisor at JMU. His contributions to the field have earned recognition including the Outstanding Educator Award from the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts and twice being listed in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." He remains active as Assistant Director and percussionist with the Charlottesville Band while continuing to compose and arrange for band and string orchestra.
