About the Composer: Joel Spineti

Joel Spineti brings seventeen years of classroom experience to his compositional work, having directed bands and jazz ensembles across elementary, middle, and high school settings. He currently leads both the jazz and concert bands at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School in Connecticut. His musical training spans multiple disciplines: he earned degrees in music and education from Central Connecticut State University, where he studied composition, and later pursued jazz piano studies in New York City under pianist Hal Galper.

Beyond the concert hall, Spineti spent twelve years performing in and directing musical theater productions across forty states, an experience that informs the theatrical sensibility in his compositions. He writes for concert band, jazz ensemble, choir, and musical theater, drawing on his multifaceted background to create works that engage young musicians and audiences alike.
