About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin is an Australian violist, educator, and prolific composer with deep roots in string education. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she served as Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra for more than 25 years while maintaining an active chamber and orchestral performance schedule alongside prestigious international artists. Since 1993, she has directed strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane, and her work as a state advisor, examiner, and frequent conductor of honours ensembles programs has shaped string education across Australia.

Fin's compositional output spans over 100 published works for string orchestra, distributed internationally by Alfred Music. Her contributions to the profession earned her the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching, a Queensland State Award recognizing her leadership in the Australian Strings Association, and a nomination for the ARIA "Best Teacher" award. She regularly adjudicates major competitions and has presented her pedagogical insights at both Australian National Music Conferences and two American National String Teachers' Conferences.
