Ralph Ford has spent nearly three decades in university teaching while building an equally prolific career as a composer, arranger, and clinician. His work spans multiple genres and ensembles, from concert and marching bands to jazz groups and orchestras, with over 250 published titles distributed internationally.
Beyond the concert hall, Ford has worked extensively in media production, broadcast, and advertising, composing music for television, radio, and digital platforms. He began his arranging career at fifteen and served as Director of Jazz Ensemble at Troy State University during his undergraduate years, a role he maintained for fifteen years. His dual expertise in composition and media production gives his concert band writing a distinctly cinematic quality.
