About the Composer: Drew Zaremba
Drew Zaremba has established himself as a composer and arranger whose work spans classical orchestras, world-class jazz ensembles, and innovative cross-cultural projects. His commissions include pieces for the BBC Orchestra, Metropole Orkest, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and legendary soloists like Randy Brecker and Eddie Gomez. He joined the University of Northern Colorado faculty in 2018, where he teaches jazz composition and arranging.
Zaremba's creative reach extends beyond traditional jazz contexts. He spent two months in Zhuhai, China, developing a concert that fused classical Chinese opera with jazz idioms, and his work with the University of North Texas Lab Bands has resulted in twenty recorded compositions. His original compositions have earned significant recognition, including the Sammy Nestico Award in 2018 and a $10,000 prize from the Sherman/Barsanti Inspiration Award, leading to a commission with the U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note.
