About the Composer: Mark Williams
Mark Williams shaped band and orchestra repertoire for generations of young musicians. A prolific composer with over 200 published works, Williams co-authored the Accent on Achievement Band Method and brought his distinctive voice to school ensemble literature across multiple genres. His career took him across North America and to Australia as a clinician and guest conductor, establishing him as a trusted voice in music education.
Williams spent much of his teaching life in Washington state, where he developed a special gift for writing engaging music for elementary and middle school ensembles. His compositions earned recognition through awards including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. A skilled bassoon performer himself, he served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band while maintaining an active composing schedule. His work reflects both deep knowledge of student abilities and genuine musicality.
