About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois, where he developed a deep understanding of what young musicians need to grow musically. His compositions and arrangements for beginning and intermediate bands have been performed by thousands of students across the country, and his work has reached national audiences through television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and other major networks. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) was performed for over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's career as a published composer began in 1995 and has since expanded to include partnerships with major publishers including Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse Company, The FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications. He is known for his pedagogical expertise and has been associated with several best-selling instrumental methods, among them Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method and the Warm-ups and Beyond series. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to produce high-quality compositions and arrangements for band. Loest holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with high honors from Illinois State University and a Master of Music degree with program honors from Northwestern University, and is an active member of ASCAP.
