Robert Sheldon

Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently performed composers for wind band today. His works appear consistently on contest lists and concert programs worldwide, and his commissions span nearly every region where concert bands perform. He has served as guest conductor for All-State and Regional Honor Bands across the United States and internationally in Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China, conducting his own compositions in venues including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall in Boston, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center.

Sheldon's achievements include awards from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. He is the lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and maintains an active schedule as a clinician, presenting at universities and state music education conferences. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to wind band music education.
