About the Composer: JaRod Hall
JaRod Hall is a Texas-based composer and educator born in 1991. He earned his bachelor's degree in music education from the University of North Texas and his master's degree from Texas State University, studying composition with Dr. Michael Ippolito and Dr. Jack Wilds, and conducting under Dr. Nicholas Williams and Dr. Caroline Beatty. As a performer, he is a tubist and trombonist who has appeared with the North Texas Wind Symphony, the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and the Texas State Wind Symphony, where he served as principal tuba for two years. He was a four-time Texas All-State Band member and performed with the 2014 Disneyland All-American College Band.
Hall spent eight years as a band director, during which his ensembles earned consistent sweepstakes awards at UIL concert and sight-reading evaluations. His 2018 non-varsity band at Griffin Middle School in Frisco became the first middle school band in the district to earn the Citation of Excellence, honoring the top two non-varsity bands statewide. His compositions have been recognized on the Texas Prescribed Music List, the J.W. Pepper Editor's Choice list, and the Bandworld Top 100 list. His brass choir "Silver Fanfare" won the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares, and his grade 2 work "Through the Storm" received the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for middle school band.
