About the Arranger: John Kinyon

John Kinyon

John Kinyon earned degrees from Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music, with an honorary doctorate from Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina. He directed instrumental music programs in several school districts, served as educational director for Warner Brothers Music in New York, and taught music education at the University of Miami before moving to semi-retirement in Tuckasegee in 1982.

Kinyon has become one of the most prolific composers of educational music for bands and orchestras. His catalog of original marches, ballads, and overtures exceeds 250 published works for Alfred, spanning Grades 1 through 3 across many styles. His arrangements and compositions remain staples in school band programs nationwide.
