About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo shaped the Carmel High School bands program in Indiana for 31 years, building it into a powerhouse that earned multiple state championships, three appearances at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, and consistent top-ten finishes at the Bands of America Grand National Championship. His leadership produced national marching titles in 2005 and 2012, and in 2005 Carmel achieved the extraordinary accomplishment of winning a BOA National Championship while simultaneously performing at the Midwest Clinic.
Saucedo's contributions to music education earned him Indiana's "Bandmaster of the Year" honor in 1998-99 and "Outstanding Music Educator" in 2010, followed by induction into the Music for All Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame in 2022. Beyond the high school, he has worked as brass arranger and composer for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (contributing to five DCI world championships), serves as music ensemble coordinator for the Blue Devils, and remains active as a freelance composer and arranger for concert bands, orchestras, and choral ensembles. He is also a Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America and serves as Chief Judge Team Leader for Bands of America competitions.
