About the Composer: Robert Sheldon
Robert Sheldon's catalog dominates the contest and concert stages of American wind bands. His compositions have earned recognition from the American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and his works appear regularly on festival and competition lists worldwide. Beyond composing, Sheldon co-authored Sound Innovations for Concert Band, a foundational resource used in countless programs.
As a guest conductor and clinician, Sheldon has worked extensively with honor bands across the United States and internationally in Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. His music has been performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. VanderCook College of Music recognized his contributions to music education with an honorary doctorate in 2020.
