Charles L. Booker, Jr.

Charles L. Booker, Jr., is a conductor and composer whose career spans both military and academic music education. A former U.S. Army Bandmaster, he served as an arranger for the Army Field Band and conducted ensembles stationed across Louisiana, Germany, New York, and Washington, D.C., where he directed the Jazz Ambassadors. His studies in composition and conducting came from distinguished faculty at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Southwest Texas State University, the University of North Texas, and the Conductor's Collegium, where he worked with mentors including Eugene Corporon and Dennis Fisher.

Booker has held leadership positions in university band programs, most notably as Director of Band Activities at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith and interim director at Trinity University. His compositions appear in catalogs from Alfred, Kendor, Bravo Music, and Southern Music Company. He remains active in professional organizations, serving as president of the Arkansas Chapter of the College Band Directors National Association and maintaining membership in the Arkansas and Texas Bandmaster Associations and Phi Beta Mu.
