Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University in South Carolina and earned a master's degree in the same field from the University of Texas at Austin. He spent five years teaching piano pedagogy at UT Austin while establishing himself as a concert pianist, winning the Nina Plant Wideman Competition and performing as a featured soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Mexico.
Martin's career has shifted toward sacred music and worship contexts.
