Don Besig

Don Besig spent over three decades teaching music in public schools across western New York, where his concert choirs and show choirs became known for consistently strong performances at festivals, competitions, and community programs. His experience spans all grade levels and ensemble types, and he currently serves as director of music at Perinton Presbyterian Church in Fairport, New York.

Seeing a genuine gap in the repertoire for student and volunteer singers, Besig began writing music specifically for the choirs he worked with. His prolific output includes more than 350 original compositions and arrangements published by major school and church music houses, with over 15 million copies in circulation worldwide. He has received multiple ASCAP Special Awards, frequently guests as a conductor and clinician across 40 states and Canada, and holds degrees from Ithaca College alongside memberships in Phi Mu Alpha, ACDA, MENC, NYSSMA, and ASCAP.
