She earned her bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (graduating summa cum laude) and went on to complete a Master of Arts in piano performance from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Her teachers included Joel Shapiro and Andrew Froelich for piano, Mary Hoffman for music education, and Tony Caramia for jazz, influences that shaped her distinctive approach to writing for young pianists.

Bober's career spans two decades of public school teaching, university-level instruction, and a thriving private piano studio. She has served as church pianist, accompanist, and music director, roles that inform her understanding of how music functions in community life. Known for her dynamic presentations and innovative compositions, she is a sought-after clinician at piano teacher conventions and workshops throughout North America. She lives in Minnesota with her husband Jeff.
