About the Composer: Mark Williams
Mark Williams built a prolific career as one of the most performed composers for school bands and orchestras, with more than 200 published works spanning multiple genres and ensembles. His influence on music education deepened through co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, a cornerstone resource used in countless programs. Williams held degrees from Eastern Washington University and spent his teaching career in Washington state, where he focused on elementary band instruction while maintaining active performance schedules on bassoon and conducting engagements with the Spokane British Brass Band.
Throughout his career, Williams earned recognition from major organizations including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. He served as a clinician and guest conductor across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his approach to ensemble building and accessible composition. His parallel work as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band informed both his writing and his understanding of what young musicians need to succeed.
