About the Composer: Bruce W. Tippette
Bruce W. Tippette studied composition at both Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he earned his Master of Music. His works span concert music, choreography, film, and collaborative projects, including pieces for Cirque du Soleil. His orchestral composition Unconquered won the 2012 Mary Starling Composition Competition and has been performed multiple times by the Winston-Salem Symphony.
Beyond composition, Tippette teaches music theory, composition, piano, and voice at the Community Music School of UNCSA, directs youth music and handbell programs at Augsburg Lutheran Church, and collaborates regularly as a rehearsal pianist and freelance engraver. He has received the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship and the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award. Tippette lives in Winston-Salem with his family.
