About the Composer: Sherri Porterfield
Sherri Porterfield directs choirs at Cedar Park Middle School in Cedar Park, Texas, and has built a reputation for bringing home sweepstakes and first-place awards from competitions across multiple states. Her ensembles have performed at state music educators conventions, and her work as a guest conductor and clinician has reached hundreds of students and teachers throughout the United States. She has taught previously in Missouri and Kansas, and served as an adjunct assistant professor of music education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
With over 175 published choral compositions to her name, Porterfield has earned consistent recognition from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) every year since 1997. Her catalog spans Alfred Music Publishing and other major houses. She holds a B.S.E. in music education from the University of Memphis and a Master of Music in choral conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Among her honors are four selections to Who's Who Among America's Teachers and selections to Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
