About the Composer: Scott Watson
Scott Watson has spent four decades shaping young musicians in the classroom before joining the faculty at Cairn University as Associate Professor of Music. His time directing bands and coordinating string programs across the Parkland School District in Pennsylvania gave him direct insight into what beginning and developing ensembles need: music that challenges without overwhelming, that engages students with strong melodies and clear harmonic direction.
Watson's catalog of more than 120 published works reflects his dual mastery of contemporary art music and the educational band world. His compositions have been heard at venues ranging from the White House to the Midwest Clinic, and he serves as an exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications. Beyond composing, he authored the influential text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011) and regularly conducts clinics and honor bands nationwide.
