About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom while building an equally impressive catalog of compositions and arrangements performed by young musicians around the globe. His work has earned recognition at the state and national levels, including the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award in 2017 and a performance of his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) before over 5,000 people at Chicago's Millennium Park that same year.
Loest's publishing history spans major educational publishers including C.L. Barnhouse Company, FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications since his first publication in 1995. He also founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to produce high-quality band compositions and arrangements. His pedagogical reach extends through collaborations on several widely adopted method series: Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method, Warm-ups and Beyond, Rhythms and Beyond, and Chorales and Beyond. His concert music has appeared on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. Loest holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains membership in ASCAP, and accepts commissions through his website.
