About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams shaped school band repertoire for generations through his dual roles as composer and educator. With over 200 published works and co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, he became a foundational voice in elementary and middle school music. His teaching career in Washington state gave him deep insight into what young musicians needed to progress, which informed every piece he wrote.

As a clinician and guest conductor, Williams brought his expertise across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. Beyond composing, he performed bassoon professionally with the 560th Air Force Band and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His compositional gifts earned recognition through the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards, establishing him as one of the most respected voices in American school music.
