• Build momentum through the riff sections by keeping the rhythmic feel tight and insistent; these aren't meant to lay back, so encourage your rhythm section to drive forward with each iteration.
• Let your soloists know the optional changes give them freedom to explore, but the underlying groove should remain rock-solid so the ensemble doesn't drift.
• Shape the dynamic arc carefully as the riffs intensify; small increments of volume and intensity work better than jumping too hard too fast, which flattens the payoff at the end.

Pair this with a ballad to show contrast, or open a set with it to set an upbeat tone for the evening. It's also excellent as a season finale that brings audiences to their feet and reminds your ensemble why they started playing jazz in the first place.
