About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over three decades, both as a prolific composer and as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers. A consistent ASCAP Special Music Award recipient since 1987, she has written more than 600 choral works and 75 larger musicals and songbooks, with pieces performed in concert halls from Lincoln Center to Carnegie Hall to The Kennedy Center. Her background spans music and theater (B.A. from Rollins College, 1976) and advanced study in drama and accompanying at the University of Miami (M.A., 1977; M.M., 1979), while her conducting has led honor choirs and festivals across the country.
Based in Wake Forest, North Carolina, Albrecht brings deep pedagogical insight to every composition she creates for student and adult choirs. Her leadership extends beyond music into national service as former Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, for which she received the Pillar of Leadership award. In 2021, she was honored with the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees.
