About the Composer: Bruce W. Tippette

Bruce W. Tippette studied composition at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he earned his master's degree, and at Appalachian State University, where he completed dual degrees in composition/theory and music education. His concert works have reached audiences internationally, and he maintains an active commission practice for both instrumental and choral ensembles. He also composes for dance, film, and theater; his orchestral work Unconquered won the 2012 Mary Starling Composition Competition and received multiple performances from the Winston-Salem Symphony.

Beyond the concert hall, Tippette teaches composition, theory, piano, and voice at the Community Music School of UNCSA and directs the youth music program at Augsburg Lutheran Church. He collaborates regularly as a rehearsal pianist and freelance music engraver, bringing the practical insights of both performer and educator to his compositions.
