About the Composer: Jeanne Vultaggio

Jeanne Vultaggio began her musical training as a horn player under Eric Ruske at Boston University, where she majored in Music Education and Brass Performance. She continued her studies at Hofstra University, earning a Master of Arts in Wind Conducting under Dr. Peter Boonshaft, and has performed with the Hofstra University Symphonic Band, Long Island Symphonic Winds, and numerous theater orchestras across the region.

As an elementary band director on Long Island, Vultaggio channels her lifelong composing practice into creating music that speaks directly to beginning musicians. She began arranging for her own students to fill gaps in repertoire, drawing on years of compositional work with chamber ensembles and vocal groups during her undergraduate years. Her dual expertise as both player and educator informs every note she writes for developing bands. She holds membership in NYSSMA and MENC and serves as a certified NYSSMA adjudicator.
