About the Composer: William Owens
William Owens has built an exceptional career bridging the worlds of public school music education and professional composition. After earning his degree from VanderCook College of Music in 1985, he spent 30 years directing bands in Texas while simultaneously establishing himself as one of the most prolific composers for young ensembles; his catalog now exceeds 300 works for concert band, string orchestra, and small groups.
Owens' compositional voice is defined by accessibility without compromise. His arrangements and original works appear on required music lists across North America and have become teaching staples, praised for their practical orchestration and clear musical intent. A member of ASCAP and recipient of commissions from the American Bandmasters Association and South Plains College, Owens has earned recognition as a Distinguished Alumnus of VanderCook and the Texas Bandmasters Association's Meritorious Achievement Award. He resides in Fort Worth, Texas.
